5 Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Workspace

With winter ending and the weather warming up for spring, now is the perfect time to start thinking about spring cleaning your workspace. Tidying up and organizing your office may seem like a daunting task, but with a few key tips, you’ll have a clean office in no time. Here are a few tips that can help increase your productivity at work:

Get rid of unnecessary items

Pull everything out of each drawer and counter space in your work area and ask yourself if each object is necessary to keep. Have I used it this month? Do I ever plan on using it again? Does it work? If you answer “no” to any of these questions, get rid of it. Unnecessary items only provide clutter. Go through all your documents and emails and only keep what is still relevant or what you may need for the future.

Find a place for everything

Organize your workspace and drawers by keeping your most used office items in close reach. One tip that may help you is to divide your workspace into different zones. For example, you may require a space for your laptop, a place for research, a place for supplies, and a storage area for files. Finding a zone may help you more efficiently use the space you have.

Figure out your organization

Each person is different and has a different routine and way of organizing your office supplies. Figure out what works best for you whether that’s creating a filing system, labeling, etc.

Deep Clean your space

During the time you are cleaning out everything, clean your workspace. Wipe down your desk with disinfecting wipes, clean your keyboard, phone, and monitor. Get rid of loose papers or trash.

Maintain it

At the end of each day, take a few minutes to re-organize your workspace before leaving. This will help you be able to find things quickly, decrease stress and increase your work productivity the next day.
